Drawing Painting and Photography from an integral part of Glen’s art practice as he has explored Britain's Celtic and Pagan roots over many years, and developed a love for mother earth, thus Glen’s artworks are an expression that has roots in travel as experience.
Glen prefers to express feelings and abstracted figures are a feature. Fluid materials express growth and a connection to spontaneous creative energy, the markings have symphony and movement which can translate into a semiotic line language .
Quote.``Working upon the Land, I am more at ease. I feel nearer, more part of the painting, since this way I can walk around it, work from the four sides and literally be in the painting". The paint markings seem to derive from a primitive form of cuneiform.
On research field trips Glen will utilise found objects as tools and merges traditional working methods, with materials such as acrylic, water based oils and natural pigments placed upon Paper and Canvas, Plastic and Stone the whole process is recorded as video and photographed into an moving image diary that supports and inspires further work that is done in studio. Glen is developing storytelling from markings done by pouring scraping and pointed sticks and japanese ink brushes, and by transposing photo imagery, one might say this is a conceptual process.
Glen’s inner city struggle can be seen as an allegory depicting as an ‘interpretation of the chance encounters from artistic inspirations that populate the urban landscape; weaving narrative and symbolism to reveal a hidden truth.
Quote.’’ Inspired by walks in Paris and the Piccasso murals "I love hunting for artworks found in obscure places’. “My intention is to take forward the great works of expressionist artists an example Cy Twombly’s Graffiti like markings are re-rendered and thus by means of rules and rule omissions, an interpretation becomes a personal mystic questioning that transposes within my artworks the photography done on site then brings in greater sensitivity into my art practice process this approach combines painting, graffiti markings, photography and video as one art piece".
